The birth of the brand
In February 1926, Hans Wilsdorf registered the brand “The Tudor” and began producing watches bearing this signature on the dial. Immediately after World War II, Hans Wilsdorf knew it was time to grow and give the brand its own identity. On March 6, 1946, he created the brand “Montres TUDOR SA”, which would specialize in models for both men and women. Rolex would guarantee technical, aesthetic and functional features, as well as distribution and after-sales service.

“For several years I had been thinking about the idea of producing a watch that our experts could sell at a more reasonable price than our Rolex watches and that would also meet the reliability standards for which Rolex is renowned. I decided to create a separate company to produce and market this watch. It was called the TUDOR watch company.”
